8. Competitors must not have attained the ages of 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 as at 1st January
2006 to be eligible to play in the respective age groups. Players will only be
allowed to play in one age group in both singles and doubles events i.e. a
maximum number of two events per player.
OPEN events will be played on a knock out basis in both singles and doubles. Pro sets will be played up to the quarter-finals. Winner will be the first to win eight games, with a tiebreak game at 7 all. From the semi-finals, matches will be best of 3 sets. Tiebreak will be played at 6 all.
NOVICES events. Restricted to local players only.
Singles will be played on a round robin basis. Short sets will be played. Winner will be the first to win four games with a special tiebreak if the score reaches three games all. Sudden death will be played at deuce. The winner of a tiebreak game must win five points first, with a sudden death point at 4 all. The Receiver has the choice of receiving in the DEUCE court or the AD court at sudden death in a tiebreak point.
Doubles will be played on a knock out basis. Pro sets with a tiebreaker at 7 all.
When playing sets the Referee or his Assistant shall decide daily if there should be a 10-minute rest between the second and third sets in the 16 & 18 division.
POINT PENALTY SYSTEM
However, after the third code violation, the referee shall determine whether each subsequent offence shall constitute a default.
The chair Umpire, the referee of his/her assistant will levy these penalty points.
Any player not ready to play within fifteen minutes after the match is called shall be defaulted. However, the Referee in his/her discretion of all relevant circumstances may elect not to declare a default.
COACHES AND PARENTS ARE KINDLY ASKED TO ENSURE THAT THE TENNIS PLAYERS UNDERSTAND THESE RULES AND THAT THEY STAY WITHIN THE TOURNAMENT AREA.
