            Tournament rules

  1. Competitors may enter only ONE singles and ONE doubles event, except the Top 4 ranked juniors who may be allowed to play singles in their own age group as well as a higher age group, in accordance with the new TFTT Selection Policy v3.
  2. Competitors must NOT have attained the age of 10, 12, 14, 16, or 18 as at 1st January, 2007, for entry into the respective age groups.
  3. Entries MUST be made on the prescribed entry form.
  4. Entry forms are available from the tournament website, http://tennistt.org or at the following venues:- TATT’s office (Melvin Black), Fyzabad Sports Club (Roy Peters), Harry’s Sport World (Harry Mahase), Petrotrin Guaracara Sports Club (Sandra Rechier), Point Fortin Civic Centre (Eversley Mitchell), POS Public Courts, St.Augustine Tennis Club (Kenny Boodoosingh), Patrons (Jean Merry), Sevilla Tennis Club (Everard Chang) and Tobago Shaw Park.
  5. Entries close on Friday 13th July, 2007 at 5 pm and the draw will be made on Monday 16th July, 2007 at the Petrotrin Point-a-Pierre Staff Club at 6 pm.
  6. Entry fee is $20.00 and TATT Annual registration fee is $20.00, if not paid before. Please attach payment with entry form.
  7. Matches will commence at 9 am on each day’s play. Registration takes place from 8 am on the first day of play.
  8. Players must report immediately to the Referee upon arrival for their match and after registering with the officials.
  9. Matches will consist of pro sets with tie-break at 7-7 up to the quarter finals from when the best of three tie-break sets will be played.
  10. A round robin system will be used for Novices singles events.
  11. In extreme weather conditions when playing sets, the Referee or his Assistant shall decide daily if there should be a 10 minute rest between the second and third sets in the 16 & 18 divisions. There will be a 10 minute rest between 2nd and 3rd sets in the 10, 12 and 14 divisions. During the ten minute break, no coaching or treatment will be allowed. However, a player will be allowed to receive an adjustment of medical support, or medical equipment.
  12. Competitors are expected to note the dates fixed for their matches as posted on the Official Notice Board at the Venue.  While every effort will be made to ensure that the Fixtures are published in the print and /or tournament website, this cannot be guaranteed.
  13. Players are expected to play in acceptable tennis attire.  Doubles teams will be encouraged to wear similar clothing during their matches.
  14. All complaints should be lodged in writing to the referee within one (1) hour on conclusion of the match.
  15. The referee may exercise discretion in postponing a match on account of weather or condition of the court.  In any such case of postponement, the previous score shall hold unless the referee and the players agree unanimously otherwise.  Players may be required to finish matches under lights or on a different surface.
  16. The Committee reserves full power, subject to the Rule of TATT to alter the above conditions and programme in any way they think proper and in the interest of the tournament.
  17. The decision of the Committee in all matters pertaining to the tournament shall be final.
  18. A player whose conduct violates accepted standards will be reported to the Council of TATT and disciplinary action may be taken against him/her by TATT.  In addition, a player may be penalized under the following system:

POINT PENALTY SYSTEM

    1. Unreasonable delays after warm-up period, between points, when changing ends and otherwise unreasonable delaying a match.
    2. Audible Obscenity
    3. Visible Obscenity
    4. Violence or with anger hitting, kicking or throwing a tennis ball, racquet or other equipment.
    5. Verbal or physical abuse of any official, opponent or other person.

 

However, after the third code violation, the referee shall determine whether each subsequent offence shall constitute a default.

The chair Umpire, the referee of his/her assistant will levy these penalty points.

Any player not ready to play within minutes after the match is called shall be defaulted.  However, the Referee in his/her discretion of all relevant circumstances may elect not to declare a default.
