South TECU Junior Tennis Tournament

The annual TECU tournament has attracted 70 participants in the Open categories from across T&T. Play starts at the Petrotrin Pointe-a-Pierre staff club tennis courts on each day of the 4 day tournament from 9am sharp. The Guaracara Sports club courts will be used in the event of delays. ALL participants MUST register from 8am on Tuesday 29th July before the Opening Ceremony and photo session which will be held courtside at 9am. Play in all singles categories starts immediately after and continues non-stop throughout the course of the day. Doubles events will start on Wednesday 30th July. The Novices categories will now be played at other venues later in the year.

Overseas based players Dirk Ramdial, the No.1 seed and John Lutchman, are in the Boys 18 draw, which is expected to be keenly contested among other top south players, Raval Deonarine, Ricardo Ramlochan and Rick Ramlochan. Last year’s Boys 18 champion, Reynee Hospedales is the No.1 seed in the inaugral Boys 21 event.  The Boys 16 has attracted the largest draw with top seed Raval Deonarine defending his crown. Other top seeds are Boys 10 Nabeel Mohammed, Boys 12 Ibrahim Mohammed, Boys 14 Jualon Greig, Girls 14 Danielle Chin and Girls 16 Sophia Begg. Only two girls categories are being contested due to the absence of entries in the other age groups.

While every effort will be made to publish the draws and order of play in the press and the tournament website, http://tennistt.org, participants are requested to check with the Tournament Referee, Chester Dalrymple and the notice boards at the venue on a daily basis.
